Project Duration :
4 Months

Problem :
The specialty coffee market has grown increasingly competitive, with countless cafés vying for customer loyalty both in-store and through digital channels. Most coffee shop apps on the market offer a generic ordering experience, little more than a digital menu with a checkout button, failing to reflect the warmth, craft, and personality that make a local café worth returning to.
MoKiss Coffee needed a mobile app that went beyond simple transactions. The goal was to create an experience that felt as inviting as the café itself, deepened customer relationships, and made the daily ritual of ordering a coffee genuinely enjoyable.

Solution :
A user-centered design approach was taken, beginning with customer journey mapping to identify key friction points — from discovering seasonal drinks to skipping long queues. The resulting app featured a streamlined order-ahead flow, a personalized rewards program, and a dynamic menu that highlighted the craft behind each drink with tasting notes and origin stories.
Warm, earthy tones and tactile textures were woven throughout the visual language to mirror the in-café experience. At the same time, clear hierarchy and intuitive navigation ensured the interface felt effortless to use. The design system was built to scale across iOS and Android, maintaining a consistent, brand-authentic feel at every touchpoint.

Challenge :
The primary design challenge was balancing richness with speed. Coffee drinkers are creatures of habit — many want to reorder their usual in under ten seconds — while new customers need enough discovery and context to build confidence. Serving both intents within a single, cohesive interface required careful information architecture and progressive disclosure.
Translating the tactile, sensory atmosphere of a physical café into a flat digital screen was an equally significant hurdle. Every micro-interaction, illustration, and typographic choice had to work in concert to evoke familiarity and warmth without slowing the experience or overwhelming users with ornamentation.
Summary :
The MoKiss Coffee app successfully bridges the gap between the digital and physical café experience, giving regulars a faster way to order while inviting new customers to explore the menu with curiosity. The rewards system and personalized recommendations gave users a reason to return, driving both engagement and loyalty.
This project shows how intentional UX design—rooted in a deep understanding of user behavior and brand identity—can turn a functional utility into something customers look forward to using, making a simple cup of coffee feel like a moment worth anticipating.
